From 22nd November 2025 to 4th January 2026, I worked as a Wardrobe Assistant on Aladdin at the Grand Theatre, Swansea. Throughout the pantomime run, I supported the costume department in the preparation and organisation of costumes, assisting with fittings and ensuring all garments were ready for rehearsal and performance. This role required careful organisation and a strong attention to detail to maintain the high visual standard of a large-scale production.
On a daily basis, I was responsible for costume maintenance, including cleaning, repairs, and checks to ensure continuity across performances. I worked closely with the wardrobe supervisor and dressing team to manage costume plots and prepare for the fast turnaround required during a busy performance schedule. Being part of a professional theatre environment allowed me to develop practical wardrobe skills while understanding the importance of consistency and efficiency backstage.

In addition to my general wardrobe duties, I was the dedicated dresser for the Dame, working closely with Kev Johns throughout the run. This role involved managing complex and often rapid costume changes, ensuring each look was prepared, maintained, and executed smoothly during live performances. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Kev, whose professionalism, energy, and experience made the role both rewarding and collaborative. Supporting the Dame required clear communication, trust, and precision, and this experience was a particular highlight of the production, strengthening my confidence as a dresser and my ability to work closely with performers in a high-pressure live theatre environment.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time working on Aladdin at the Grand Theatre, Swansea, and found the experience both rewarding and inspiring. Being part of a professional pantomime production allowed me to develop my wardrobe and dressing skills even more while working within a supportive and collaborative team. The fast-paced nature of live theatre, combined with the creativity and teamwork backstage, made each performance exciting and fulfilling. This role reinforced my passion for wardrobe work and strengthened my desire to continue working within theatre and live performance environments
